Hello,

I'm Peter Slamaker

author, health enthusiast, and passionate advocate for practical, down-to-earth wellbeing.

About Me

I’ve spent over four decades working as a seasoned Project Manager in the oil and gas industry, leading complex operations and navigating high-pressure environments across the globe. I hold an MSc in Project Management from Aberdeen University, where I developed the structured, analytical approach I still apply to life and learning today.

Beyond my professional career, I’ve always been deeply curious about how the human body works, especially when it comes to the gut. That curiosity evolved into a lifelong passion for healthy living and, more recently, a fascination with the emerging science of the human microbiome.

I spend a lot of my time reading the latest research, exploring how gut bacteria impact not just digestion, but also immunity, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing.

I wrote Gut Health Explained because I believe health shouldn’t be complicated. You don’t need to be a doctor, dietitian, or have a degree to understand what’s happening inside your body, you just need to care enough to take the first step.

I’m not here to preach. I’m here to help demystify gut health and share what I’ve learned – clearly, honestly, and with a healthy dose of common sense.
